A Time To Say Goodbye, A Time To Leave Entrecard

Dear Entrecard friends and visitors,

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the sun, says Ecclesiastes.   goodbye entrecard

There’s a time to blog, and a time not to blog, a time to join Entrecard and a time to leave Entrecard.

For me the time to leave Entrecard has come.  So it is with regret to inform you that I’m officially leaving Entrecard .

This is not a time to bash Entrecard, because it is still a great site for bloggers to generate visitors, grow their blogs, make online friends and to network.

Indeed, for the last 8 months that I’m with Entrecard starting on July 2009, I have meet many nice and wonderful bloggers like you, read good and best blogs and was able to grow my blog as well.

When I sent a private message to one of my blogpals this morning about my decision to exit from EC, she asks:  “Why are you leaving? Your blog has always been on the Top 5 of the most popular blogs in all categories of the campaign.”

But there is more to life than dropping cards every day. There is more to blogging than Entrecard traffic.

I wish to thank the Entrecard management and you,  my fellow users, for your friendship, camaraderie and goodwill.

Being with Entrecard community has been a pleasant and memorable experience because of all of you.

But life goes on. Time to move on in the blogosphere — without Entrecard.

Cheers!

Eli

  1. understandable. Will still come by here. Have bookmarked your blog. Best of luck to you and yours.

  2. Good Luck and see you next time!

    Thanks for the great words!

  3. You’ll do fine without it. I’m still having a hard time not dropping but I have ads in my queue for at least another week and I don’t want to gyp them out of their purchase.

  4. Sorry to hear you’re leaving and hope you’ll continue to communicate via blog visits afterwards. Like the person who ask why you’re leaving, if it’s been a positive experience why certainly comes to mind. I do wish you the very best. There are things I’m not happy about with some of the changes in ec, but plan to play through for now.

    Stay warm and safe
    Sandy

  5. Eli, I completely understand and I have already left them as well. I do enjoy your blog, have learned much from you and will continue to visit you on a daily basis. Jo

  6. You are one of the most active members in the network and you have contributed much because of your priceless efforts to improve the system though some of your suggestions were not taken by the management.

You did your best and I AM PROUD OF YOU!

I will surely miss your drops in my blog. I completely agree with you that “there is more to life than dropping cards every day”. As you promised that you will keep visiting my blog, I will do the same as well. Your writings have encouraged me a lot and stopping by your blog is a worthwhile experience.

Take care always my friend! More power to your blogs!

  7. Goodbye and a lot of success in Your blogging without EC .
We are going to miss you.

  8. I understand why you’re leaving. I’ve already removed Entrecard from all but one of my blogs. You don’t need the drop and run Entrecard traffic for your blog to succeed :-)

  9. Always been a useful experience to come to visit and read your writing, I can not speak a lot about this, I will put your link on my side bar so I can come here anytime

  10. Oh nO! I can’t believe I am actually reading this post, Atty! I am stupefied!

You’re one of the people who have offered great solutions for EntreCard for it to become a better community for bloggers. You always see things objectively and true enough, you have made a lot of us well aware of what’s happening with the EC system.

I feel sad you have come to a decision to leave EC. I know it’s a bit hard on your part but yes. there’s more to life than dropping EC’s.

I shall be missing your widget in my drop inbox. But rest assured, I will come by as frequently as I can as I have been doing in the past. You have been an inspiration to many of us and we can’t afford to miss reading your stuffs.

    All the Best,
    LAINY

    P.S.

I wonder if you were able to receive two of my SMSes last week, Atty. Never heard from you.

    Ditto

  11. I’m sure you’ll do great without entrecard and I’m sure I’ll still be stopping by your blog to read all your great posts.

    Take Care,

    Sheila

  12. You almost make it sound as if Entrecard is only for beginners?

  13. Greatest wishes to you and continued success with your blog, Eli. The recent EC debacle has sent many reevaluating, myself included.

Hope you have a great week!

    - Margaret

  14. Hey Eli, I understand. I’ve always said that our life off-line is WAY more important than life on it.

With your content and genuine respect from others, you’ll do fine with or without EC.

It is great to see the kind of following you have now, too.

  15. It is sad you are leaving.

Thanks for your tips/advise and friendship (though online).

I’ll come by with or without your EC widget. It is your posts/articles which makes me come here and read.

    Regards.
    Yljien

  16. ohh, so sad . I always visit your blog because you have an interesting post article.. tho i dont comment. for sure your site will have the same traffic without the EC widget.. adgitize still there!!..

    goodluck

  17. Hi Eli, we left EC as of yesterday. I cancelled all the blogs in queue, as I felt they did not deserve to have anything other then the best I could give. The fact that I would no longer be dropping would adversely affect their hits. So I wanted to make sure they got their credits back right away so they could advertise on other active blogs. However I did write EC a nice letter thanking them and that I never say never.

I did have another blog up with them that I never mentioned I was taking down but once I removed my widget after Sheila’s ad ran on MOB (which already showed a lack of hits then the norm yesterday) because I stopped dropping. They deleted my entire account., which had built up quite a bit of credits and had spent it on as many blogs as I could.

I told them I intended to stay until the ads ran out but guess once the widget is gone they boot ya. Funny thing is I see blogs on there that have not been touched in over 6 months yet they are still active. So I was a little disappointed, but what is done is done.
I believe, leaving your widget up and not making you drops does not afford your current advertiser the best rate of return. Nor moving it to the bottom of the blog to keep my adversing credits viable fair either.

I don’t regret my decision and it wasn’t taken lightly, we all have to make the call that is right for each of our blogs.

I have met many wonderful bloggers at EC and contacted many of them at least I hope I did via EC about my decision to leave. My blog is not one built around building blogs, so I did not want to post a farewell article on it because I still have all the links to your wonderful blogs and will be stopping by. That will not change, I don’t need a widget to tell me where to go any longer. Those that dropped and never even looked will not be missed. The rest I shall bug as much as I can.

Wishing each and everyone of you, who I met and those I have yet to meet, nothing but the very best, because in my eyes, good blogs are very hard to come by, Glenn

  18. I understand. See you aroud in the land of blog.

  19. Hey there,

I’ve been contemplating on leaving Entrecard myself. I mean, it’s a great service to kick start an up and coming blog, but once you’ve established yourself and made some friends, it’s tough to dedicate the time to drop all the time. I completely agree with you that there’s more to blogging than just that and once I feel that I can make the leap you’re about to take, I’ll meet you on the other side. Later!

  20. No disrespect, Eli.

But saying it’s time to move on doesn’t explain why you’re leaving.

And would lead me to suspect that your decision has much to do with the fuss over ghost dropping.

Be that as it may, I would hope you would reconsider despite any disagreements you may have with others in regard to said fuss. Entrecard, as well as the many friends you have in Entrecard, can ill afford losing any more quality bloggers such as yourself.

For though you and I have had our disagreements, said disagreements do not diminish the respect you have earned from me, as well as others.

I hope this finds you well.

    Sincerely,

    Mike

  21. Hi eli! You’ll do fine without EC. I did it before and was quite impressed with the seo traffic I got from various search engines. The reason why I got my ec back was due to public demand because my ec blog friends wanted to read my blog and drop at the same time. Plus increasing my readership to both old and new ec bloggers alike. Anyway, if ec becomes worse.. I’ll remove the widget again. So entrecard management, you better read this! Haha! Goodluck to you!

  22. Good luck and I’m happy for you. I left entrecard about a year ago. It was a waste of time for me. Indeed, entrecard is the best way to boost and grow your website especially if you just started.

  23. hey Eli,

i read about it @ fledging blogger……….it’s sad that you are leaving ….i’ll be missing you from the my drop inbox…………….though we have a lot of ppl leaving EC……some say it’s cause of the bounce rate from EC……..

i’ll try to keep up with you here………. best wishes for you…..for the coming days…\,,/

  24. That is a good move. Entrecard is something a blogger can be a part of but will eventually outgrow as you later find out that you don’t need to drop in order to get traffic.

  25. I would like to know how you feel about entrecard now that it has meet it’s demise.
