My friend Shelly sent me via e-mail the “21 lessons in life.” I don’t know who the author is but these lessons are beautiful and full of distilled wisdom that is worth sharing. So here it is:

1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will stay in touch.
5. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
6. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.
7. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
8. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
9. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.
10. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
11. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
12. Forgive everyone everything.
13. What other people think of you is none of your business.
14. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.
15. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
16. Don’t take yourself too seriously. No one else does.
17. Believe in miracles.
18. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
19. Get outside everyday. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
20. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
21. The best is yet to come.

Powerful lessons on the realities of life, indeed.
With the last point “The best is yet to come.”, we should always think that every moment is the best. Having a perspective of always giving out your best as if it is your last will give you genuine happiness.
That is a wonderful way to think, the best is yet to come. And I truly believe in miracles. I have had one happen to me. Those are terrific lessons in life and I am a firm believer in all of them. Just got to keep thinking positive and all will be just dandy.
Valuable lessons, great advice. I love “Don’t take yourself too seriously. No one else does.” If I ever start taking myself seriously, I hope someone will slap me upside the head!
All good lessons…but those pertaining relationship with others, i.e. comparing, envy and what others think are difficult to do, which is why so many conflicts among friends, neighbors and co-workers. Thanks for posting this.
I’m back to revisit these lessons, Eli. I believe that “All that truly matters in the end is that you loved” is another great lesson. I am truly blessed to have a wonderful wife that I love with all of my heart.
