The blogosphere is gigantic place, a virtual jungle where only the fit can survive. Currently there  are approximately 112 million blogs in cyberspace. According to Technorati, there are over 175,000 new blogs, excluding websites, created every day – yes, every single day.

No wonder there are countless blogs that die a natural death daily, for the reason that readers cannot differentiate the blogs from the countless others.

How do you make your blog stand out from the competition, get readers, drive traffic and get ahead?

The answer is: Build your blog an image. Simply stated, brand your blog. In branding, you build an image for your blog that your readers can identify and trust.

Why branding? To make your blog set it apart from your competitors and make your site stand out, resulting to more readers and subscribers, and increase in traffic.

The success of your blog depends to a large extent on its image. If you were able to build an identity that speaks of a trusted source of quality, unique, or useful content where your readers and customers can get reliable information, good advice and tips, and valuable knowledge, then you would definitely stay in the blogosphere for many years to come.

It all boils down branding your blog by creating the image that you want to communicate to your target audience – the image of  who you are and how you would want to be known because your blog is an extension of your personality.

How to brand your blog by creating an image? Here’s the basic questions.

1 – What kind of blog do you have? Does it have a niche?

2 – Do you publish frequently and regularly, at least 3x a week?

3 – Is your blog fast loading?

4 – Do you have strong competitors for your blog? If so, who are they?

5 – Who are your target readers and subscribers?

6 – How do your target readers see your blog? What about the niche or category you are in?

7. Is your blog full of images, pictures, and ads? Are these images, pictures and ads relevant to your blog’s niche?

When you have answered these questions clearly and frankly, you can now put forward in your blog the identity you would want your target readers and subscribers to retain and form a picture in their minds.

The rest is up to you.

  1. Yep.. I agree
There are too many blogs out there so we really need something outstanding to differentiate ours from other blogs
If your blog is just as common as most blogs, it’s hard to get loyal visitors

  2. I would like to add one more important point,… build your own community by commenting and keep up with them.

  3. For your blog to survive, you only do not need to have a good image but you also need to build a strong bond with other bloggers through genuine friendship! It’s the real relationship that will make it last.
