Create A Good First Impression Like A Warrior
In my previous article, I mentioned the fact that first impression could make or unmake you.
Why is first impression important?
If you are in business, or in your first date, on your first sales presentation, on a first business deals, make sure to give a good first impression. Why? Because first impression counts.
The reason why first impression is important is because, as the saying goes: ““You never get a second chance to make a first impression”
How do you create a first good impression? One best way is to act like a warrior, to make a very good first impression the way a warrior does.
The famous author Carlos Castaneda describes how a warrior creates a good first impression by following the six principles.
1. Choose your battleground. A warrior never goes into battle without knowing what the surroundings are.
This means to create a good first impression, you must know where to do it, and who are the people in that place. Are they your customers, your friends, your colleagues, or you are on your first date?
2. Discard everything that is unnecessary. Warriors don’t have the world to cushion them, so they must have the rule – the rule to be yourself, to believe in yourself, and be confident.
Otherwise, how can you create a goo first impression to other people when you don’t believe in yourself, your talents and abilities?
3. Apply all the concentration you have to decide whether or not to enter into battle, for any battle is a battle for one’s life.
This is akin to creating the first impression. Apply all the concentration to decide whether to create a first impression or not, because first impression is lasting.
4. Relax. Abandon yourself, fear nothing. When creating the first impression, don’t force the issue. Just be. Relax so that you can think clearly on the how.
5. When faced with odds that cannot be dealt with, warriors retreat for a moment. They let their minds meander. They occupy their time with something else. Anything would do.
When creating the first impression and the perception of others about you is negative, retreat, but come back later, this time with finesse, suave, and to act impeccably.
6. Warriors comprise time; even an instant counts. In a battle for your life, a second is an eternity that may decide the outcome. Warriors aims at succeeding, therefore, they compress time. They don’t waste an instant.
So, to create a good first impression, realize that a second may decide the result. Time is important, that is why every moment counts. Timing is also necessary, to act at the right time and in the right place.
