How To Make Money With Your Blog And Your Blogging Profitable
Miss Wang, a budding entrepreneur from Hongkong, wrote me the other day, asking for my advice on how to make money with her new blog.
Being an entrepreneur, she wants also to make her blogging profitable, e.g. earn income for herself after paying for webhosting fees, electricity, and time spent blogging.
The question of Miss Wang is also the same question that other bloggers are asking, on how to monetize their blogs.
Here’s my advice, in simple and basic terms, based on my personal experience and the experience of the other bloggers.
1). To monetize your blog you must, first and foremost, attract traffic in order to sell products or services. To attract traffic, you must:
a. Write good quality content, preferable unique content posts.
b. Update your post regularly, at least twice a week, to make your readers and visitors keep on coming.
c. Market and promote your blog to be known to your target audience. To do this, you have to advertise in ad networks, like in the Adgitize and join Entrecard, if you are not yet a member.
d. Submit to search engines, especially to the big three that account for about 90 percent of all web searches, namely, Google, Yahoo! and MSN Bing. This is to make your blog found by people who search the web daily vis-à-vis your content and niche.
There are advertisers on the web claiming that they will submit your blog to 350 search engines for a monthly fee. Do not fall into their trap. Only 3 search engines matters, the big three.
Having done the above, with your blog niche, traffic, and good quality content posts, you can now start making money, using your blog as a medium.
How to do it? By putting in your blog a number of profitable additions, as follows :
a. Google AdSense. This is the simplest one to pursue. You are using targeted advertisements to create revenue for your blog. You are paid per clicks on the ads.
b. Sell advertising space on your blog.
c. Be an affiliate marketer. This is another option, where you can get paid when someone makes a sale on your blog. That is more likely to happen when you join an affiliate program. Join affiliate program that work well with your blog’s niche.
d. Sell EBook An e-book is a short downloadable electronic book that you can create yourself and sell on your website. Your e-book can be on a variety of subjects but in order for it to sell, you must be able to offer new and helpful information to your customers.
To summarize, your blog can be used to build revenue and income for yourself. Start with your chosen niche, promote and market your blog to find the traffic you need, and then you are on your way to make your blogging profitable.

Great post! Thank you for some wonderful tips and advice on promoting a profitable blog. Really appreciate the content and information here.
To your continued success,
Colleen
Hi Eli,
Great post.
But I’d be remiss if I didn’t let you know that you left one method out.
According to my research, there are many pro bloggers use email marketing as their main income source. What they do is to use their blogs as a means to collect the email addresses of their readers, much like a squeeze page. They soften them up by posting some relatively useful information thereby gaining a measure of trust and then proceed to hard sell them a digital product that’s likely to wind up gathering dust on their hard drive through email. Personally, I’m not entirely sold on this method. I’d prefer to be known as a blogger with a interest in marketing, vice a marketer who happens to have a blog.
But what do I know? I have yet to make a dime (with the exception of your kind donations) with my blog.
I hope this finds you well.
Sincerely,
Mike
Thanks for the information. This all sounds good in theory, but new bloggers struggle with the most important thing: how to attract visitors.
Do you think the content is the key? Even if the content is original and good, how do you make sure people know about you? Only a limited amount of people will find you through the search engine, as there is a big competition for search engine rankings… How can this be improved?
I would say, build traffic and community around your blog. Earn your readers trust. And offer products that you’ve already tried. Basicly know what you are selling. Even if it is an affiliate product.
Every word of this post is spot on! You have to build your readers and it takes time. Find your niche, write about things that interest you, engage your audience in conversation, keep your website clean and most of all I would suggest investing in a good web designer. Advertisers will not work with you if you don’t have traffic. Traffic won’t come and return if you don’t have a quality website.
Those companies always crack me up when they claim to submit it to all those search engines for you. I never heard of any of the search engines besides the major ones and it is free to do it yourself.
Building a reputation is very important. I have a lot of free stuff that I share but when I share something that costs, I personally tested so I know it is a good product. My usual readers have a tendency to trust my judgement on things.
I like this web very much.
This is such a extraordinary web.
This is not like other money directed website, the info here is very valuable.
I am definitely bookmarking it as well as sharin it with my friends.
