Seven Proven Techniques To A Competitive Blog
Blogging has become very popular these days, and there are now tens of millions of blogs circulating in the blogosphere.
Yet, everyday, there are also many blogs that just die a natural death, for lack of visitors coming to their sites and the bloggers who made them have lost the desire to update the contents.
What many bloggers do not know is that a blog is a business and like any business enterprise, it requires business strategy and tactics to make it competitive and sustainable.
Unless you make your blog competitive and promote it to the world and especially to your target audience, they won’t know that it exists. Besides, realistically speaking, there is no reason in the world why anyone would actually visit your blog, read your posts, or click the ads in your blog.
Therefore, since many blogs just decay and eventually die, and considering that everyday there are some 175,000 blogs being born, how do you make your blog competitive and stay longer in the blogosphere?
There are seven proven techniques to a make your blog competitive and strong, as follows:
1. Specialize. Don’t post and publish unrelated topics, from travel to photography to food, from Twitter to Facebook, from sports to the latest celebrity gossips. I have seen and read many blogs that are like these, with no niche at all, and their owners (authors) keep on wondering why they have no or little traffic and why their ads produce very little revenues which are not even enough to pay webhosting fees.
The key to a better blog is to specialize. You specialize by creating your niche. Once you have created a niche for your blog, don’t forget to let your readers and subscribers understand the difference between what you and the competition are offering.
2. Provide quality content posts as perceived by the readers. The quality of your articles is what the readers say it is, and not how you perceive it to be. You may believe that your blog and your posts are the best, but if people are not reading, then what’s the use?
3. Link up. A good blog has linkages or links with blog directories as well as article directories, specially EzineArticles.com. The reason is obvious. A blog directory functions like a telephone directory. If your blog is not listed there, people cannot find it, and won’t have any idea that it exists at all.
The same goes also with article directories like EzineArticles.com. Your published articles in ezinearticles.com will help surge in traffic to your blog, caused by the ezine publishers who come to its site throughout the year to pick up quality articles for their email newsletter or website. EzineArticlesc.om has also end-user base of millions of people who are looking to immediately benefit from your experience as an expert author.
4. Be unique. Being unique means your blog has distinct qualities that make it stands out from all the other blogs. It also means your blog looks different because of its special characteristics.
In short, don’t copy the layout and the theme of other blogs which look like Christmas trees, and with ads all around in different shapes and colors, which not only distract the readers but also result in very slow loading.
5. Be close to your readers. Listen to your readers’ comments and feedbacks, and act on what you hear. Without the readers your blog has no reason for existence.
6. Become reader-focused. Having established your niche, blog for your readers. It’s your readers who provide you with the traffic, generate your ads revenue by their clicking and reading your ads, and by buying your online store, if you have one.
Avoid blogging about your pet dog or your cat which got sick or your kid who lost his two front teeth or about your fairy old grandmother, like what many bloggers who have nothing more important and relevant to share are doing. You will drive many visitors away from your blog that way
7. Promote your blog. One business strategy is advertising – designed to promote your blog to your target readers. This means you advertise your blog in other well-known or established blogs or through advertising companies, like Google Adsense or Adwords.
By putting your ads in the popular blogs, there’s a likelihood that their many loyal readers and unique daily visitors can see and click it which will direct them to your own site.
Implementing these proven seven strategies, which are actually business principles in practice, will make your blog competitive and stay longer in the blogosphere.
