A very interesting post. I guess business from home is the current lifestyle for most people whether they are doing it for full time or part time.
I started my very own home-based business on eBay by selling products. I think that was a good start for me until I realized that I spent a lot of time on packaging and delivering. I was exhausted.
I then involved myself into Home-Based Service Business by providing hosting and freelance writing. I find it fun as I am doing what I love. But the difficult part is to keep it survived as sometimes we tend to laze around or might involve ourselves in any other commitments. Maybe you can advise us on how to keep your home-based service business for a long time successfully.

The key to keeping a home-based service business– just like any other business for that matter– for a long time and successfully is to have always a strategic focus. You mentioned that sometimes we tend to laze around or might involve ourselves in any other commitments. That’s true. That happens when we lose our strategic focus.
So, it is important to have a plan, say, a one year business plan to provide directions for a year, with workable and implementable monthly objectives. Then monitor and evaluate it monthly, e.g. monthly objectives vs. results.
Of course, discipline is important, so that we avoid lazing around and doing things unrelated to our business. Other entrepreneurs put up other unrelated businesses, which tend to result to business collapse, as they tend to forget their original business mission.
In addition, the home-based service business that you have must be profitable and fun. If it’s not profitable, then forget it. If it’s not fun, why do it?
Only a business that is fun and profitable can be sustainable. If it is sustainable, then it is in for a long time, because it generates money, profit, it’s fun and you enjoy managing it.
