Trojans, Viruses and Time Are The Reasons Why Some Top Bloggers Are Leaving Entrecard!
While visiting my favorite blogs today I stumbled upon the blog posts of some top Entrecard users who just left and are leaving Entrecard this month of February 2010.
Their reasons: excessive time needed to drop cards daily, as well as computer viruses and Trojans that have infected and crashed their computers.

A few minutes ago today, Glenn of Man Over Board, a popular blog, commented on my recent blog post, “A Time To Say Goodbye, A Time To Leave Entrecard”, saying he left Entrecard yesterday and had removed the widget, because of his lack of time to drop.
Other top and popular bloggers who are leaving Entrecard and their blog posts are:
Margie and Edna’s Basement “Bye-bye Entrecard”
Some of you may have noticed that we haven’t been dropping our EC card on you lately. It’s with some regret that we announce today that we’ll be leaving Entrecard in the very near future.
This is due to a variety of issues, not the least of which is the excessive time needed to make the daily drops, as well as the computer viruses that both of us have gotten time and again from dropping on EC widgets. Although we’ve received some decent traffic, and have met some truly wonderful bloggers, it’s just time for us to say goodbye to Entrecard.

The Rooster Crows at 4 am! “Bloggers! Entrecard No More!”
Sorry, had to pull my Entrecard…again, and this will be the last time.
For the past week I have encountered two or three sites as I make daily drops with virus warnings that my new virus protection software has protected me from, but I am tired of taking any more chances.
A virus took me down about two months ago. My computer is my lifeline back to the States. My magicJack phone is hooked up to my computer so I can make free calls from the Philippines to America.

Redhead Ranting “Changes and Entrecard”
I’ve decided to leave Entrecard, with this blog at least.
Not because of all of the stuff that happened this week but it didn’t help. This week while dropping I have been Rick Rolled numerous times (seriously who still does that?), I have found several trojans and I have to restart my computer at least once a night.
I hate dropping. It is excruciatingly boring. 90% of the blogs I visit via Entrecard. I don’t read. I’ll admit it (and if I had known of a way to cheat the system, to make the task almost bearable, I would have used it too).
I don’t read them because they are poorly written, they are nothing but ads, they never update their blogs or I simply have no interest in the subject matter. The ten percent I do read I would read anyway,
I don’t need Entrecard to visit those blogs because they are well written, entertaining, I enjoy the subject matter and I have connected to the writer in one way or another.

Me, too , I’d leave Entrecard soon. I wanted to leave sooner but it was because of what I thought we could never have the option to reject their paid ads. I used to drop 300 everyday because I didn’t have a job but lately since September last year, I had never found time to drop consistently anymore. And if I do, I can only drop at a maximum of 200 and that takes so much time. It’s really hard to drop 300 now that I have a part-time employment. Then just last month, my computer got infected because of a site that is an Entrecard member which was probably hit by a virus that infected my PC after I opened that site—and another site —-my PC got infected twice in just a span of 3 weeks last month. Good thing I have a friend who repairs this kind of problems without charging me a fee. Otherwise , I’d pay $60 per hour.
Yea , I noticed a lot of bloggers are leaving Entrecard. The 300 drops maximum is ridiculous, the paid ads are unfair, the staff are unsupportive and sometimes cranky and rude, and the whole staff are “snobbish” , the ghost droppers, and the system that is easily rigged by viruses and Trojans.
I hate dropping now mostly because the sites that dropped on me (which I need to drop back ) are crappy sites—with nothing to read –either stuff that was just taken from books, magazines and reference materials or personal journals that are written like the “author is just talking to herself out loud.” I only read my favorites and my online friends’ blogs.
I’m still on the fence with EC, but Redheadrantings comments about the quality (and quantity) of blogs one “must” go through rings perfectly true to me, too!
I stay, sometimes dropping sometimes not. So simple is that. Hoping that the EC system will be protected better in the future. But I never go for the 300 drops, that’s a waste of time. 1 hr dropping reading a day is my limit.
It is sad to know that one of the most active entrecarders will leave us soon, but we have to accept that it’s a fact of life. Some bloggers who have established themselves through entrecard and were able to collect a solid group of followers will find life not that different before and after joining the program.
Be that as it may, I still don’t see myself leaving Entrecard at this time. It is still one of my greatest source of traffic, mindless drops some of them may be. The viruses I can still handle by constantly updating my protection software and the not-so-high quality posts are more than offset by a few very good ones. Although Caledonian Comment, The Rooster Crows and now Business Sphere has left or will be leaving the stables, there are still some quality breeds left that makes blogging and dropping worth it.
I just wish all former entrecarders goodluck and to assure some of them that we will still be visiting your sites now and then.
Cheers!
Seek No More
Hi Eli, thanks for the mention in your article. As has been mentioned, I have met some great bloggers through Entrecard, such as yourself, and was sorry I had to leave for similar reasons that others have stated. I appreciate your visits and comments to my blog, and will continue to give you my support. Thanks again.
I was just about to add my new blog to entrecard, glad you mentioned about this “trojans and viruses” issue. Maybe I should remove ec widget on my other blogs. Happy blogging. There are other ways to promote one’s business or site anyway. You may want to try the help of a top professional salesman. For more info about it, feel free to visit their website.
Happy blogging everyone.
It’s mindless dropping as far as EC members are concerned. If you need to improve your traffic ranking, stick with EC otherwise let search engines bring the traffic to your site.
I’ll be sticking around for a while, I just won’t be dropping so much. I don’t see any point in dropping on blogs I don’t enjoy reading. It doesn’t make any difference to me if my favourite blogs leave. I’ll still visit them
I lost my .blogspot, where the hell did it go? Point being, things change…we as bloggers should be the first to change with em.
Someone will come behind, entrecard with a better business model. I will try to keep taps, on them to see who they will be.
Until then I will keep droppin, stumblin, diggin sites I love, to read and comment about. If so be someone else can make a coin off, a entrecard like, site so be it. It’s the american way. dammit.
Peace
