Whether you are blogging for money or as a hobby, you have the same concern – blog traffic. Otherwise, if you don’t have daily visitors to your blog, then what and for whom are you blogging for?

So you want a steady and constant traffic daily? Maximize the utilization of search engines!

The search engines, as distinguish from your visitors coming from ad networks referrals as a result of your advertisement, is one of the most effective ways of directing targeted traffic to your blog – and it’s free of charge.

That is why visitors coming from search engines,  known as organic traffic, is also called free traffic. People arrive to your blog as a result of their search, by typing in a keyword or phrase when they are looking for information, knowledge, news, or do research.

These people come to your website because the keyword or phrase that they typed in a search is relevant to your blog’s content, and because your blog had been optimized for search engines, or search engine optimization (SEO).

When your blog has been optimized for search engines, especially Google, Yahoo! and MSN Bing, your site shows up in the first or second pages of the search engines result page (SERP) and gets click-through to your site from the searcher.

Therefore, why should you focus on search engines to drive traffic to your blog? There are three (3) basic reasons, as follows:

1. Free Traffic. Traffic from search engines, as mentioned, is free. As such,  you don’t have to pay for the traffic, unlike in blog advertising and promotion in ad networks like Adgitize, Project Wonderful, or even in Google Adsense, AdBrite and BidVertiser, where you have to spend money to get traffic.

2. Targeted traffic, because the readers came to your blog based on their key word searches, which is actually in your blog content.

3). Auto-pilot traffic. Traffic from search engines is passive, in that your visitors come to your blog without you doing something about it, and regardless of where you are and what you’re doing.  This means  you don’t have to do viral marketing, send e-mails, or blog advertising.

It is noteworthy that everyday millions of people search the web using search engines for information, acquire knowledge, or just to read. So, all you have to do is to post good quality or unique content in your blog and update it regularly, at least thrice a week and search engines will do the rest to provide you with the traffic.

To summarize:  traffic from search engines is the only source of constant and steady traffic, the kind that is of quality, not drop and run or click and run traffic. As a blogger it is important that you know how maximize it, to boost your daily visitors and grow your blog.

  1. How are you adjusting your SEO methods with the news from Googy that they’re ‘customizing’ all search engine results now, regardless of people being logged in?

(Most data stored in the cookie, unless people opt out, which most won’t)

  2. That’s a really good point. Having a good and interesting content plus targeted keyword will help drive more traffic.

  3. Hello Eli,

    Great post, my friend.

You’re absolutely right. Even those bloggers whose blogs are personal in nature should ensure that they include keywords (or subjects that they blog about frequently) in the META tags of their blogs (for those who do not know what Eli and I are referring to, I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have on this subject via my blog).

While those who blog for profit should give particular attention to this SEO technique, I believe that all of us who blog should give a bit of focus to what your post talks about.

PJ and I would like to extend our wish for you and your family to have a very happy holiday and we hope this finds you well.

    Sincerely,

    PJ and Mike

  4. Search engines will allways be the best source of traffic, but bloggers have to get their SEO right in order for it to work.

  5. very good points! I have noticed under google analytics that if you create a lot of blog articles and use good seo plugins with your blog I have found that many articles generate a lot of traffic without high rankings.

Search Engine traffic does work and using the right method will get you loads of visitors.
